Open Records

Open Records provides a mechanism for citizens to inspect or copy government records. It also provides for times in which governmental bodies may elect to, or are required by law to, withhold government records from the public. The Village of Dakota supports a transparency within our local government.

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requires that all public bodies make their records available to the public, subject to certain exemptions.  To make a request to inspect or copy public records, a FOIA Request Form should be submitted to the Village Clerk.
